Imphal blast probe sought
Judicial probe demand into October 21 Bomb blast in Imphal has gained momentum in Manipur. The blast killed 17 people and 30 other were injured.
Residents of Ragailong, a tribal village on the outskirts of Imphal city, organized a protest march and demanded for the judicial enquiry.
Protesters comprising of all the segments joined the march from the spot of bomb blast towards the chief minister's office. They submitted a memorandum to the CM Ibobi Singh in this regard.
They accused serious lapses in police intelligence.
"We repeatedly told the police to stop the gambling in the area. But our requests went unheeded," Kambui Lunglu, secretary of the Ragailong Women Union, said.
On 21st October, a powerful bomb blast rocked Imphal that killed 17 people near a police commando barrack and an Assam Rifles transit camp.
Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) had taken the responsibility for the blast.
According to reports, they had planted the bomb to "warn" the gamblers and to "target" the police and security forces who "encouraged" gambling.
