Ijaz Butt Appointed As New Pakistan Cricket Board Chief

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was full of speculations when Nasim The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was full of speculations when Nasim Ashraf, the former board chairman resigned from his post in August. However the board came to a decision on Tuesday as the Former Pakistan Test cricketer Ijaz Butt was chosen as the appropriate replacement. Nasrim Ashraf had resigned hours after General Pervez Musharraf vacated his post as Pakistan's president. Ijaz Butt was appointed as the PCB chief by the President Asif Ali Zardari. PCB was earlier known as Board for Control of Cricket in Pakistan (BCCP) Ijaz Butt, 70 has played eight test matches for Pakistan and have held the positions of being a secretary of the PCB, manager of Pakistan team and one of the board members of the PCB governing body as well. It is said that this replacement was likely as Butt being a close relative of Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar had his full support. Butt is considered not only as a good player but also as a good leader who promises to bring some significant changes in the Pakistan Cricket team.
