IIM-C ranked No. 1 in Finance & No. 2 in Economics
The Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta (IIM-C) got two new feathers after it was ranked No. 1 in Finance and No. 2 in Economics among the top global business schools.
According to the Financial Times Global Masters in Management 2013 survey, the finance section at the country's premier business school is the best in comparison with the same subject taught at the world's leading 70 business schools.
In addition, the Calcutta-based institute grabbed the second position for its economics module in the same study.
The institute said in a statement, "It is heartening to note that IIM - Calcutta is ranked No. 1 in Finance and No. 2 in Economics among the top 70 global business schools that offer masters in management programme."
Prof. Ashok Banerjee, dean of new initiatives & external relations at IIM-C, said the rankings given by the survey came as recognition of overall quality of the institute's post-graduate programmes.
Separately, the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has announced that it has recruited 8 new full-time faculty and the hunt for more faculty was still on. IIM-A currently has 91 faculty members, which is considerably below the institute's requirement of 120.
