Ice Cream Sandwich now has 7.1 percent share in Android market
According to the latest figures, the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Google’s Android platform has increased its market share to 7.1 per cent in the Android market.
The Android developer hub has said that the Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0 now runs on 7.1 percent of all Android smartphone and tablets. The growth is positive considering the version accounted for just 2.9 percent two months ago. The Gingerbread version still accounts for the majority of the Android ecosystem with 65 percent and interesting the version’s popularity also grew in the previous month, at the expense of Froyo and Éclair versions.
The Ice Cream Sandwich or ICS version runs smoothly on the smartphones as well as the tablet computers. It comes with an impressive interface allowing users to easily operate the device. Even as some users have complained abut the speed of the version, the ICS is likely to gradually gain popularity until Google releases a better and faster version of the open source platform.
Google has a strong presence in the tablet market with its Android platform. Ice Cream Sandwich includes a redesigned user interface offering same experience on tablets and smartphones to its users. It is heavily inspired from its previous version, the Honeycomb. The new version will inherit Honeycomb's Tron-inspired "holographic" visual style, which will now come with new designing making it available devices with different screen sizes. The Android 4 design is simple and functional with a clear color palette that is simple to use.
