The provider of technology platforms and value-added services (VAS) to mobile operators and media companies throughout the world – IMImobile Private Limited of Hyderabad on Wednesday announced that it has acquired the London, United Kingdom based mobile backup and sharing service Mobytec in a part-cash, part-stock deal.

With the acquisition deal of undisclosed value, IMImobile has made its way into the social aggregation and phone book management services space. According to the terms of the acquisition deal, the complete range of Mobytec services as a white-label solution for mobile operators will now be provided by IMImobile.

The complete range of Mobytec services include providing single location for “social media content,” including pictures or videos, texts from friends, contact numbers and email addresses, etc. Mobytec also allows its users to share videos and other multimedia with other Mobytec friends. Mobytec services also include integrating on-line and mobile social services and file sharing.

Announcing the acquisition, which is said to be 100 percent, the CEO & Chairman of IMImobile, Vishwanath Alluri stated that IMImobile is hoping to see Mobyko deployed in India within this quarter. Mr. Vishwanath told that that the acquisition is part of the vision of IMImobile to become white-label services provider, and the company is hoping to provide white-label services to 100 international operators in two years and 500 operators in five years

According to Mr. Vishwanath, currently the company is in talks with 15 operators to provide the Mobytec technology platform, which will continue to operate independently to provide mobyko.com branded services. The company is also planning to integrate the Mobytec platform with social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.   

The acquisition of Mobytec is the IMImobile’s second buyout in the United Kingdom; the company acquired the provider of digital content delivery services dx3 in November 2008.
