HTC One gets Android 4.4 KitKat update

HTC One gets Android 4.4 KitKat updateAndroid 4.4 KitKat, the newest version of Google's widely popular mobile operating system, is now available for the HTC One in the United States.

Using its U. S. Twitter account, the Taiwanese handset maker has announced that it has started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update with HTC Sense and Sense 5.5 for the HTC One smartphone in the country.

The company also claimed that the update would bring bug fixes, better performance along with some new features. For instance, if an HTC One owner is on the home screen or in Google Now, he/she will be able to activate the voice search by simply saying "Ok Google".

Owners of the HTC One smartphones are also now able to send a text, play a song, and get directions. Memory has been optimized for them, while the touchscreen has been considerably improved. The upade makes the handset faster as well as more accurate than what it was with the Android 4.3.

In addition, the update enables users to reap the benefits of multitasking in several ways. For instance, they can now listen to music and browse the web simultaneously.

However, the update has reportedly failed to appeal to some early adopters. As per a study carried out by OptoFidelity, some users reported that video playback on Android 4.4 is not as good as it was on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
