HP drags Asian firms to the court

HP drags Asian firms to the courtHewlett-Packard (HP) has indicted four companies based in Hong Kong and Taiwan, for patent infringements.

The case which seeks a petition in a Federal Court says that these companies have transfigured over 300,000 genuine HP print heads from its services in Asia and sold these components globally as products manufactured by Hong Kong-based Mipo, according to reports of Bloomberg.

The other three accused are Taiwan-based printer cartridge maker, MicroJet Technology, Hong Kong-based PTC Holdings and SinoTime Technologies, US affiliate of Mipo.

According to WSJ reports, HP has blamed MicroJet of infringing six of its patents in ink cartridges as it sold them under its own name as customized device.

Mipo on the other hand, used to sell these products online via a third-party site.

Meanwhile, HP is in no mood to loosen the grip as the technology major is constantly tightening the noose so that the culprits are suitably punished.

Meanwhile, it is itself facing charges of providing faulty products in China. More than 170 consumers have filed cases against it and want the company to recall all the faulty products from the market.
