New Delhi, Dec 28 : An outlay of Rs. 52,839.00 crore had been proposed for Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) in the draft 12th Five Year Plan put up before the National Development Council (NDC).

This outlay shows an increase of 247% over the allocation of Rs. 15,224 crore in the 11th Five Year Plan.

The MHA supports various programmes and schemes to strengthen internal security in the country. MHA also supports various State Govts and Union Territories through its programmes and schemes.

Some of the schemes of MHA and the proposed allocations in the draft 12th Five Year Plan are as below:

(i) Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems(CCTNS)
- Rs. 900.00 crore

(ii) Modernisation of Police Forces (MoPF) Rs. 3751.00 crore

(iii) National Population Register - Rs. 6841.00 crore

(iv) Disaster Management - Rs. 3360.00 crore

(v) A special infrastructure scheme to deal with the situation arising out of Left Wing Extremism
- Rs. 349.00 crore

(vi) A special industry initiative scheme for J&K - Rs. 500.00 crore

(vii) Security Related Expenditure in J&K - Rs. 290.00 crores

(viii) Relief and rehabilitation scheme in J&K -- Rs. 100.00 crore

(ix) Coastal securities schemes - Rs. 651.00 crore

(x) Modernisation of Delhi Police - Rs. 1874.00

(xi) Naxal Management in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) States - Rs. 207.54 crore]

(xii) Naxal Management in North Eastern States - Rs. 290.00 crore

The main proposed activities during the XIIth Five Year Plan are Internal Security, Modernisation of Police Force, National Population Register, Disaster Management, Security Infrastructure and Rehabilitation Schemes in the State of J&K, Naxal management in North Eastern and Left Wing Extremism (LWE) States. In addition, Modernisation of Delhi Police Force with a total outlay of Rs. 1874 crores has also been proposed. There is also a proposal of Mega City Policing with a total outlay of Rs. 432 crores in six cities namely Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Banglore, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

These proposals were discussed in the National Development Council (NDC) meeting on Thursday in the national capital as a part of the draft 12th Five-Year-Plan. (ANI)
