Home Minister Sitaula meets Prachanda
Kathmandu, July 1: Nepal Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula met CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today to find ways to resolve the existing deadlock in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
According to Nepalnews, the meeting was mainly centered on ensuring the smooth functioning of the CA. The two leaders also discussed the formation of a new government and the contentious issue of power-sharing that has caused a huge rift between Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist) party.
Although both CPN (Maoist) and CPN (UML) party have said that they support the demand for an autonomy in Terai, they have expressed severe objection to the demand raised by Terai-based parties for declaring the whole of Terai as a single province.
However, Nepali Congress hasn't come clear on the matter, but it is believed that the party is also against the idea of "One Madhesh" demand raised by Terai-based parties. (ANI)
