Home Depot says 53 mln email addresses also stolen during September hack attack

London, Nov 07 - American retail store Home Depot has reportedly said that hackers who stole 56 million debit and credit card details earlier have also stolen 53 million email addresses.

However, it added on Thursday that the file containing the e-mail addresses did not contain any sensitive data like passwords or other personal information, reported the BBC.

Home Depot said that the hackers accessed its network using a vendor's username and password between April and September. Advising customers to be on guard, it warned them against further phishing scams that might trick them into sharing personal information.

Analysts had earlier dubbed the attack as one of the largest data breaches on record. (ANI)
