Recently, the scientists from France and Italy discovered microscopic particles in the air at a Nepalese mountain observatory, which is five thousand meters above sea level. This has induced a fear that the increasing density of pollution will adversely affect the weather over the Himalayas and lead to change in its patterns. 

The study undertaken by these scientists was published in the US journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Their study claims that that temperature at Himalayas would warm up due to the movement of pollutants from the thickly populated regions of India, Pakistan, China and Nepal to the Himalayas. 

This may lead to deformation of clouds, disturbing of the normal cycle of monsoons, and fast melting of the glaciers. 

Last year, it was informed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, “Himalayan glaciers, which feed rivers on which hundreds of millions of people depend, could shrink because of global warming.”
