Hillary Rodham Clinton proposes tax credit to improve youth employment
On Wednesday, Democrat leader Hillary Rodham Clinton proposed using tax credits for promoting businesses to train young people.
This has been put forward to deal with unemployment among younger Americans. Clinton was speaking at a technical college in South Carolina when she proposed giving businesses a tax credit of $1,500 for each trainee hired by them.
According to her, the program concentrates on workers at different stages of life and not just high school students. A student introduced her at the school where she was speaking on Wednesday.
According to Clinton, "It also should be older workers. It should be for moms re-entering the workforce after raising their children, to be more independent. It should be for our veterans".
Unemployment rate for workers age 18 to 34 in May was 7.8%, which is over 2 percentage points higher compared to the national average.
Clinton has been visiting early voting states following her first big rally on Saturday in New York. She is coming up with a child-centered rationale for her White House proposal. She also assured to come up with the facility of 'high-quality preschool' for all 4-year-olds in 10 years, increase federal money for early Head Start programs to double and look for a tax cut in order to help parents with the costs of raising children who are younger than 3.
Clinton also emphasized on her commitment to children in rural areas and said that they should be given the same government benefits as children in urban centers get.
