Hannah, ten-year old diagnosed with breast cancer
Breast cancer is a deadly disease. It usually affects elder women. But the recent case of Hannah Powell-Auslam shocked everybody from her parents to doctors. This 10-year-old girl was diagnosed with breast cancer recently.
Last month when Hannah complained of itching in her left breast and her mother noticed a lump, she was taken to a doctor for checkup. The reports of the test conducted on Hannah shocked her and her family. It was revealed that she was suffering from Stage IIA Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, an adult form of breast cancer. Hannah had a mastectomy.
But she will need more surgery or chemotherapy as the cancer has spread to a lymph node.
Hannah said: 'How can this happen? I am ten. I was really shocked.'
Dr. Nathan Honda, medical director of the Ruby L. Golleher Comprehensive Cancer Programme at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital said: 'Breast cancer in children is exceedingly rare.'
A website known OurLittleSweetPea. com has been launched by Hannah's parents, which document courageous battle of ten-year old with breast cancer.
