Handset manufacturing in India may be made compulsory by the government
Although India has registered itself as, one of the fastest growing market for mobiles phones among world, but the ground reality is that is still lies far behind when it comes to the mobile manufacturing in the country.
As most of the players present in the country including Micromax, Spice, Karbonn, Zen and Lemon get their products from the foreign markets and then sell them in the Indian market.
The countries from where these products, are generally sourced consists of China and Taiwan.
Thus to counted this glitch the communications ministry in India has united with Department of information technology in order to augment the production capacity in the country. Because this has serious implications as to the high import duty, that is levied on these handset while being bought into the country.
As these imports not only lead to high revenues loss in from of import duties but also there is a constant threat of spyware enabling access to the intelligence agencies across the world.
It is speculated that the government of India will make some percentage of handset manufacturing in the country as mandatory for the handset players so as the cut on the high amount on imports by the companies.
