Guru Gobind Singh's birth anniversary today

Guru Gobind Singh's birth anniversary today On Sunday 342nd birth anniversary of tenth Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh started with a nagar kirtan. In order to spread universal message of brothwood Engulfed with festive gaiety, devotees travelled seven kilometres across the city.

The Grand Panja Pyaras, decorated Guru Granth Sahib and children were present on skates attracted commoners. The day would be marked by the special prayers and would be celebrated at Gurudwaras all over the city with devotional songs and the langar.

RS Bagga, president, Lucknow Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee told media persons, “In an hour when perseverance has become a rarity, the life of Guru Gobind Singh puts an example of sorts. All his sons were killed by enemies in the name of religion, but he never bowed his head before wrong-doers.”

“Guru Gobind Singh ji is a source of inspiration to those as the atrocious is wrong, but the one who silently surrender before the con is equally to be blamed. So, one must raise a voice when ever he comes across injustice,” said General secretary Harmandir Singh who also added that he also teaches us not to succumb to the wrongs.

The tenth Guru Guru Gobind Singh was born in 1666 in Bihar and his father Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh was the ninth Sikh Guru. Mother Gujari Devi was a brave woman. Guru Gobind, who also started Khalsa Panth, was known as a sant-sainik (saint-soldier) because of his visionary. He is also known as a poet of sorts and it is said that in his darbar, a group of some 50-odd poets were present.
