Gunman open fire in Hospital: kills one woman before killing himself

Police has said that a gunman shot three women, one fatally, at a Knoxville, Tenn., hospital Monday afternoon before killing himself.

The two surviving victims of the 4:30 p. m. shooting at Parkwest Medical Center were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, the Knoxville News Sentinel has reported. Their conditions were not reported.

The newspaper further said that Police found the body of a man lying on the sidewalk at the entrance to the patient discharge area and SWAT teams went room by room of the facility to make sure there weren't any suspects.

Knoxville Police Chief Sterling P. Owen IV said, "We have cleared the hospital and there do not appear to be any other suspects out there."

The names of the victims and the gunmen were withheld until relatives could be notified. Owen said the three women are current or former Parkwest employees.

One of his drivers had driven the alleged shooter to Parkwest, a local taxicab company owner has told the News Sentinel. (With Inputs from Agencies)
