Gordon Brown’s moving Mother Day’s tribute to late mum

United KingdomLondon, Mar 22 : In an intensely personal Mother’s Day tribute, British PM Gordon Brown has spoken highly of his mum, who did secret work breaking German military codes during the Second World War.

The leader said he would spend the day thinking about his mother Jessie Elizabeth Brown, who died aged 86 in 2004, reports the Mirror.

Brown remembers his ‘no nonsense’ mother as a “ferociously intelligent woman, with a particular gift for maths.”

It was her skill with numbers, which took her to London to help break enemy codes as part of the war effort, Brown said.

And he also said that he was planning a rare treat for his wife Sarah - by making her breakfast. (ANI)
