Google Street View car hits 3 vehicles in Indonesia
Google takes any mistakes/accidents by its Street View cars very seriously, a senior executive of the Internet search giant said.
In the most-recent case, a Google Street View car hit three vehicles - two public transport buses and a truck - in Bogor, Indonesia.
As per a statement released by the police, the drive of the Google Street View car first hit a public transport bus, and made an attempt to drive off but then the car ran into a second public transport bus and then against into a truck.
Responding to the incident, Google Indonesia's communications head Vishnu Mahmud said, "We take incidents like this very seriously. We're working closely with local authorities to address the situation."
An eyewitness captured pictures of the incident and posted those pictures to a local website.
It was not the first incident of its type. Earlier in 2013, the Internet firm was criticized after one of its Street View cars reportedly ran over a donkey on a street in Botswana. Initial Street View pictures clearly showed the donkey walking by the roadside, but in the latter pictures the animal was lying on its side behind the car. However, the company denied those reports and claimed that the donkey was alive and well.
