According to a report in the Korean media, Google might be planning to release the third generation of its Google Nexus Prime Smartphone in October, which is the rumored time for the launch of the next edition of Android dubbed, Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Korean website Electronic Times suggests that the company will release the smartphone with the new version of the software in a similar fashion as it released Google Nexus S with Android 2.3 Gingerbread earlier.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is expected to combine the features of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which runs on smartphones and Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which is specifically designed for tablet computers. Thus the new version is expected to provide support for tablets as well as smartphones.

That Google Nexus Prime is expected to feature a 4.5 inch 720p Super AMOLED HD Plus PenTile display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP processor, a 1 GB of RAM and 4G LTE capabilities.

Google has not commented on the reports.
