Google Maps now includes public transit details of 500 citiesInternet giant, Google has said that the its Google Maps service now include details about public transit system of as many as 500 cities from around the world.

The Google Maps Service now has time tables for more than 1 million bus, train, subway, and tram stops in different countries across the world. Google Maps software engineer Christopher Van Der Westhuizen write in a blog post today that this information is useful as it will be available to people on the move.

Google has been working to improve its Maps service and include transit schedules since years. The company has been trying to include details of world's transit structures for several years and it included transit schedules of New York City in 2008. Google added new voice search with its transit planner in 2009 and it not provides live transit updates on the service.

Meanwhile, Google has launched a "Prior Art Finder" feature for its patent search tool that will allow users to find prior art results through key words in patent's text. The users will have to simply type key phrases from a patent's text in the search querry box in order to find prior art results. The tool will show drawing results not only from Google Patents but also from Google Scholar, Google Books and the wider internet.
