Google Maps to debut Street View on mobile Google Maps Web app
According to an AllThingsD report, a strategic announcement by Internet search giant Google is apparently in the offing this week, with the company likely to bring on Street View images to its mobile Google Maps Web app.
The disclosure, coming from a review on Google Maps for Android by AllThingsD's Walt Mossberg, implies that Google is trying to fortify its hold on mobile maps, especially after Apple's iOS 6 maps fiasco.
Pointing out that Google is seemingly set to debut Street view on its mobile Maps Web app in a Thursday announcement, Mossberg said in the report that the popular Street View feature - a notable miss on the Apple maps - will be added to the Web version of Google Maps for Apple's popular iPhone and iPad.
About the Street View addition to Google's mobile Maps Web app, Mossberg said that, in the mentioned addition, 360-degree picturesque street views of certain locations are displayed, along with the internal photographable sights of selected businesses.
Revealing that he has tested the Street View addition coming to Google's mobile Web maps, Mossberg said that the links which Google had sent to him for testing enabled him to "see the locations and pan around with a finger" and "worked well."
