Google launches "Prior Art Finder" for its patent search toolInternet giant, Google has launched a "Prior Art Finder" feature for its patent search tool that will allow users to find prior art results through key words in patent's text.

The users will have to simply type key phrases from a patent's text in the search querry box in order to find prior art results. The tool will show drawing results not only from Google Patents but also from Google Scholar, Google Books and the wider internet.

The company has also added a feature to allow users to access submissions to the European Patent Office. Now users looking for patent requests with the European Patent Office can easily find them under the tool using just key words from the patent application.

An applicant usually cites prior art such as earlier patent applications or journal articles to prove that the invention is new and not obvious. The tool will allow users to get related content from multiple sources under the tool. The company is aiming to provide another way to patent searchers to find information relevant to a patent application.

The users will see a new blue "Find prior art" button on individual patent pages from today.
