Google to launch new tablet computer this year
Internet giant, Google is planning to launch a new tablet to take on the likes of Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle. Google chairman, Eric Schmidt announced that the company will launch a Google branded tablet based on its Android platform in the next six months. He said that the tablet would be "of the highest quality". Industry analysts believe that the new tablet could become a serious competitor to the Apple iPad.
It is believed that the new tablet would feature a seven-inch front panel and could be priced in the range of $200 to compete with Amazon's Kindle tablet. According to a report by Digitimes citing sources from company's supply chain, the company may be aiming to compete with Amazon's 7-inch Kindle Fire instead of taking on the Apple iPad.
The report also said that according to the sources in Far Eastern factories that build hi-tech components for companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon, have indicated that Google's own branded tablet would have a seven inch form factor instead of Apple's nearly 10 inch front panel of the iPad.
