Google facing inquiries in Argentina and South KoreaInternet giant, Google has disclosed that it is facing inquires by authorities in Argentina and South Korea amid a global scrutiny of the company's competitive behavior and collection of private data.

The company said in a quarterly regulatory filing that Argentina's antitrust agency and South Korea's Fair Trade Commission are conducting inquiries into certain business practices of the company. Argentine's National Commission for the Defense of Competition said in a statement that it is investigating the company to determine if it has a dominant position in its respective markets that could affect Argentina

A spokesperson from Google said that Argentina's regulator "notified us that they are conducting a preliminary inquiry into our search and search advertising services, and we are of course happy to answer their questions."

On the other hand, the inquiry in South Korea is undergoing since 2011 and the company is continuing to cooperate in the proceedings, according to the spokesperson. The country's police had raided a local Google office in
2011 as part of an investigation into the way Google collects location data of users through mobile phone advertising.

The announcement of the investigations has shown the company is increasingly facing investigations from authorities around the world including in its home country. In the US, the Federal Trade Commission is reviewing whether the company has abused its dominant position in the online search market. Meanwhile, the European Commission is also investigating antitrust complaints against the company.
