Google extends Google Wallet checkout service to mobile websites
With Internet search biggie Google having officially announced some changes to its Google Wallet online payment system, the Wallet checkout has now gained support for mobile websites.
Since the changes brought on to Google Wallet checkouts essentially update the Google API, merchants will henceforth be facilitated in enabling customers to make online payments using the mobile versions of their websites.
The changes imply that a "pay with Google Wallet" button can now be added by merchants to allow their customers to use the stored credit cards within their Wallet for checking out; just like the way some other sites make use of the PayPal platform.
As a result of the changes, users who come across a mobile website which supports Google Wallet checkouts will now have to simply click the `buy' button; fill in their login credentials; and complete the order!
According to Google, the changes made to Wallet checkout service stem from the fact that up to 97 percent of mobile shoppers end up abandoning their shopping carts on mobile websites because they have to fill up nearly 20 fields of details on a small screen while providing shipping and billing information by clicking and scrolling through a number of pages.
However, noting that Google has now extended Google Wallet checkout support to mobile websites, Google's Barak Turovsky said in a blog post that the Wallet system now "makes it easy and secure" for users to complete their online transactions from mobile websites.
