Google, AP Ink Deal On Web Licensing Rights

Google, AP Ink Deal On Web Licensing RightsGoogle has inked an agreement with the Associated Press that will permit the internet giant to carry on publishing news from the AP on its news related site.

The terms and conditions regarding the agreement were not revealed thus far.

On its official blog, Google said that it has not been linking directly to breaking stories from Associated Press since Jan this year when an earlier deal between the two sides terminated.

But, Google still referred readers to older AP stories, and to AP stories at AP clients websites under a temporary licensing contract.

On its blog, Google said, "We've extended our existing licensing agreement with the Associated Press that permits us to host its content on Google properties such as Google News. We look forward to future collaborations, including on ways Google and AP can work together to create a better user experience and new revenue opportunities."

In a separate declaration, an AP representative stated that AP as well as Google will also work jointly in novel sections, such as methods to perk up news discovery as well as distribution. (With Inputs form Agencies)
