Partnered by DNA YA!, Khushii, the Delhi-based NGO spearheaded by legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev, specially organised an art camp — India on Canvas—Junior — is creating waves by bringing together children and prominent artists to create artworks in the name of charity.

This time the event was held at Mumbai's Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery and artists like Nayana Kanodia, Sonali Iyenagar, Nanda Das, Devyani Parekh were paired with these young budding artists. As always, Nayanaa Kanodia was enthusiastic about her involvement with this event. According to the artists, events like these are great for children who are inclined to the arts. The close proximity to artists can help them learn some interesting tricks of the trade. This will be an enjoyable experience for all," she said.

All the artists are in agreement when they say that ideas like these are a great way for children to take up charity initiatives. Much opposed to their usual ideas of what charity means, children now realise that they need not give up anything for charity, but instead can just have fun and help a cause at the same time.

On this occasion, parents were more than happy to see their children make a mess. In fact, they were proud of the colour spots and splats of paint on their clothes. They did not hesitate to express themselves when it came to deciding what to paint with their respective artist/mentors.

Artist Sonali Iyenagar along with Nayantara Piramal created a colourful butterfly. Artist Nanda Das and Veer Toshniwal made a goat while artist Devyani Parekh and Shanaya Piramal made an abstract that signifies the rhythm and the motion of dance (reflecting her fondness for dance). Artist Vipta Kapadia and Devyani Parekh chose to go with abstract art work. And one of the most appreciated art works was of artist Ramji Sharma and Divya Piramal. They made a scenery, that won the complements of all.
