Goa looking to host FIM Motocross World Championship
Authorities in the Indian state of Goa are looking to host the FIM Motocross World Championship in the state in the future.
The Goa Delegation to the Matterley Basin in United Kingdom, which hosted the event on 19 August, said that they will host a challenge round in the state and the authorities will soon determine a date for the round on the Motocross World Championship calendar. Motocross is a spectator-friendly two-wheeler racing event that is held on enclosed roads.
Ashley Gomes, President of the Goa Motor Sport Association, who was the head of the delegation, held a press conference along with other senior officials including Mr Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream President, Dr Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS Director, Mr Avertano Furtado, Minister of the Goa Government at Matterley Basin and detailed the future of the event in India.
Giuseppe Luongo said, “I am sure that together we will organize a great World Championship in Goa and I’m convinced that we will make a big contribution to make the notoriety of your region and beautiful country.”
Dr Wolfgang Srb expressed that the inclusion of India will prove right for the future direction of the sport.
