''Global Tibet Fast'' observed in Dharamsala
Dharamsala, Aug 30 : Tibetans in Dharamsala participated in the ''Global Tibet Fast'' campaign spearheaded by the Dalai Lama to highlight the "Tibetan cause" today.
The 12-hour fast and prayers for peace and freedom is being organised by the Tibetan Solidarity Committee.
The Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile Samdong Rinpoche said that the one-day fast was a part of the prayers for world peace in general and the sufferings in Tibet and China in particular.
Tibetan exiles said that they were inspired by the fact that the Dalai Lama is leading the campaign from Mumbai where he has been admitted to a hospital for ill health.
The 73-year-old Dalai Lama was admitted to a hospital with "abdominal discomfort". He had cancelled two foreign trips after complaining of fatigue.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner had returned to Dharamsala on August 24 after a two-week visit to France mainly to give lectures on Buddhism, but during which he also criticised Chinese policies in Tibet. (ANI)
