Global Health Security is Lesson to be learnt from Ebola Outbreak
A paper published in Journal Lancet has detailed a survey’s results to prove that the main reason behind the lack of health sources is uncertain political condition. The recent Ebola crisis has already made it crystal clear that several issues engulfed West Africa. A debate over several problems such as significance of global health security and political will has been triggered by the epidemic.
Ebola outbreak was studied by health experts in deep details to see how its impact could have been lowered with access to healthcare services. The study also focused on how Ebola outbreak can help in improving political commitment. It is very important to attain stability for political condition to provide accessible health security.
Margaret Kruk, MPH from the Department of Global Health and Population, and other health experts discussed what the lessons to be learnt from the outbreak are.
Kruk said the outbreak has highlighted efficacy of health system to deal with a crisis. It is often seen that a massive epidemic like Ebola outbreak are not dealt effectively by the concerned authorities.
David L. heymann, a professor at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said the epicenter of the issue is health security. He said the Ebola outbreak has underlined the importance of making health products and services more accessible at a personal level around the globe to battle with a health crisis.
