Girlfriend’s call wakes coma patientA call from the girlfriend from thousands of miles results helped a ma show his first sign of recovery after 10 months of being in a coma, as tears began to roll down his eyes when he herd the voice of the loved one over the phone.

31 year old, Mathew Taylor had met with an accident on the Indonesian island of Bali, while he was there to teach English. Doctors had said that he might never regain consciousness but sings have increased hopes and now he even moves hands to answer her call.

Anda Nurul, 27 from Bali met him while he was on the island. She had to return home from the UK after her visa ran out. She made a call when Mr. Taylor's parents were at the hospital and they helped him listen to her voice. Soon after that, he began to cry and the same thing happened as Anda called again.

"He had tears in his eyes as we held the phone to him. She asked him something and he said a silent `yes'. Then tears were coming down his face. It was brilliant. He is still in a low-awareness coma but he moves his hand left and right when the phone rings. We are just happy he is responding," said stepfather Simon Moore.

Mathew was conscious after the accident but did not receive treatment in the country because he did not have insurance. His parents had to raise £100,000, out which Darrell Taylor, his biological father, contributed £50,000 savings while Simon had to re-mortgage his house to raise the rest.
