Islamabad, Apr 5 : PML-N leader and former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the new PPP-led government, of which his party is a major constituent, was planning to bring a legislation in National Assembly for removal of President Pervez Musharraf.

He said that during his stint of eight years, Musharraf had harmed several institutions and had no moral right to continue in the country’s highest office.

“Musharraf has harmed many institutions in the country. We intend to bring the legislation in Parliament for President’s removal. Musharraf is isolated and will have to go,” The Nation quoted Nawaz as saying in an interview with a private TV channel in India.

He denied having struck any deal with Musharraf. “I have not struck a deal with Musharraf nor have I gone soft on him. I think an autocrat has no role to play in a democratic set-up.”

Nawaz refuted India’s claim that terrorist camps continue to operate from his country and advocated a visa-free regime as a part of confidence-building measures to resolve the lingering Kashmir issue.

Firmly denying Pakistan’s involvement in harbouring terrorism, Nawaz said there was no substance in the Indian Home Ministry’s report that the terrorist training camps were still operating from Pakistan. “There are no such camps operating in Pakistan,’’ he claimed.

Advocating for a visa free movement between the two countries, Nawaz said: “There should be free movement of people. I am of the opinion that we (Pakistan) should unilaterally announce a visa-free regime for the people (of India) who want to visit Islamabad, whether India reciprocates this or not. I have spoken to Zardari Sahab about it and I think he also feels the same.” (ANI)
