London, Dec 29 : A few hours after Shakira's footballer fiance Gerard Pique announced that the singer had given birth to a baby, he confessed that it was all a joke.

"Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo! Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!" the Mirror quoted him as tweeting on Friday.

Which means: "Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thank you all for your messages!"

Later Gerard tweeted, "Ya tiene nombre! Se llama Inocencio! Feliz Dia de los Inocentes a todos!"

Which means: "He has a name! He's called Innocent! Happy Day of the Innocents to all of you!"

December 28 is actually the Spanish equivalent to April Fools' Day. (ANI)
