Genoa fan recovers after being run over by fan bus
Rome - A Genoa fan who a month ago was run over by a coach carrying visiting Fiorentina supporters has left the intensive care unit, but remains in hospital and unable to speak, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported Wednesday.
Gabriele Amato, 36, was among a group of people who on February 15 surrounded a coach carrying visiting fans as it left the Genoa stadium.
Some home fans were enraged after Fiorentina clinched a last-gasp 3-3 draw after coming from three goals down.
Amato has been charged by police for carrying a knife as investigations continue to identify the people around the coach.
Amato apparently fell under the moving coach and suffered several fractures. He was unconscious for five days and underwent several operations to treat his fractures. (dpa)
