Lahore, Dec. 6 : The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Saleem Altaf has said that Pakistan is preparing for next month’s series against India despite doubts being raised about it being held in the wake of last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai.

Altaf said that cricket officials are making all possible arrangements to ensure a successful series.

From giving a comprehensive facelift to the venues involved to getting solid assurances from the authorities over security arrangements for the visitors, Pakistan are trying to ensure that they are fully ready for the series, reports The News.

Washington, Dec 6 : Retired American football player O. J. Simpson has been sentenced to 33-year in prison for his role in an armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel.

Simpson, 61, was sentenced on December 5 in Las Vegas.

Judge Jackie Glass rejected his five-minute plea for leniency and for having made a stupid mistake, and his apology for the same.

“It was much more than stupidity,” CBS News quoted Glass as saying.

Simpson kept insisting that he was simply trying to retrieve sports memorabilia and other mementos, including his first wife''s wedding ring, from two dealers when he stormed the hotel room on September 13 last year.

London, Dec 6 : Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he had come very close to signing up with Arsenal before he joined Manchester United.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger met Ronaldo thrice to persuade him to join the north London team, but his efforts failed because Man U offered the footballer three times more the amount the former was offering.
