Fortis Healthcare has made announcement about the establishment of a separate block for the treating of cancer patients at its Noida Hospital.

The hospital said that it will make an investment of Rs 30 crore to set up this block.

Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, Fortis Healthcare Managing Director, said, “Fortis Noida is constructing a separate block for Oncology covering an area of 30,000 sq ft. This block is expected to be operational in third quarter of fiscal 2010.”

Washington, April 9: A new type of acupressure wristbands may offer a safe and cost effective way to keep nausea from affecting cancer patients while receiving radiation treatment, say researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

The researchers say that a clinical trial conducted by them dispels the notion that the placebo effect, an outcome related to one’s body that one expect to happen, may be why elastic wristbands reduce nausea.

Recent study has given hope that damaged bones and joints can be healed without series of difficult surgeries. Researchers found that stem cells can be used repair damaged bones and joints.

Researchers at Keele University are testing the effectiveness of injectible stem cells in animal models. These stem cells can be injected and guided with a magnet to place where they are needed. Study on mice has shown that these stem cells were able to grow new cartilage and bone.
