HIV Patients To Receive Pensions In Andhra Soon  In a landmark decision, the state government has decided to give pension to nearly 43,000 HIV patients in Andhra Pradesh.

Giving this information on the eve of World AIDS Day, State Family Welfare Minister Sambhani Chandrasekhar said that the government is preparing a blueprint for treating the HIV patients at various Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) centres across the state.

The report published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said, "Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the prospects for survival of newborn babies exposed to HIV."

New Drug for Jet LagResearchers reported that an experimental drug that acts like the hormone melatonin can help jet-lagged travelers and night-shift workers by resetting the body’s circadian rhythms. The experimental drug, called tasimelteon, also known as VEC-162, manufactured by Maryland-based Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. has been reported to help patients sleep longer and more deeply than a placebo and helps restore normal sleep patterns.
