London, Mar. 31: Chelsea's Ivory Coast international striker Didier Drogba has said that football is nothing compared to the death of 19 people in a deadly stadium stampede before a World Cup qualifier in Ivorian capital Abidjan.

London, Mar. 31: Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard is of the view that many young footballers lack dedication and enjoy the "trimmings'''' of their well-paid trade too early.

Lampard fears this comfort zone will stop certain players from maturing into top-class internationals.

Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Mar. 30 : At least 22 people were killed and 132 were injured when a wall came down on them before a football match between the Ivory Coast and Malawi in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

According to The Sun, many of the victims were trampled as they attempted to flee the crush which happened as fans tried to get into the stadium.

Ivory Coast Sports Minister Dagobert Banzio said fans tried to push in without tickets at the Houphouet-Boigny stadium in Abidjan.

Quito  - Brazil seemed lucky Sunday to be getting a win against Ecuador, but its rival equalized just one minute before the end of the game at high altitude in Quito, in the South American qualifiers towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Julio Baptista put Brazil ahead in the score in the 72nd minute. He had come into the pitch for a lacklustre Ronaldinho just a minute earlier, and his long-range effort hit the base of the near post before bouncing on the back of the Ecuadorian keeper and finding the net.
