London, Jan. 28 : Twenty-five-year-old Brazilian striker Robinho has denied a nightclub girl''s ''sex attack'' allegation, saying he voluntarily spoke to West Yorkshire Police officers for several hours about the so-called incident before being released on bail.

"He strenuously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to co-operate with the police if required further," his spokesman said.

London - Champions Manchester United stormed clear at the top of the English Premier League on Tuesday after they crushed 10-man West Bromwich Albion 5-0 at the Hawthorns.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as United moved three points ahead of Liverpool, who play on Wednesday, and also set a new record for minutes without conceding a goal.

United now have 50 points, three better than Liverpool and Aston Villa, who won 1-0 at Portsmouth on Tuesday.

Hamburg  - Bundesliga clubs SV Hamburg and Schalke 04 on Tuesday advanced to the quarter-finals of the German cup with victories against lower league opposition.

Hamburg beat second division 1860 Munich 3-1, while Schalke managed a 4-1 victory at third division club Carl Zeiss Jena.

In Hamburg Munich goalkeeper Philipp Tschauner gifted the home side the opening goal just before the break when his pass to Mathieu Beda, was intercepted by Piotr Trochowski, whose ball found Ivica Olic.

Sao Paulo  - Mano Menezes, the coach of Brazilian football team Corinthians, was upset Tuesday about the attitude of his star striker Ronaldo, who reportedly danced till dawn at a Sao Paulo nightclub.

"That harms his image a little and it even causes us a few problems," Menezes said in an interview with Brazilian television cannel SporTV.

Ronaldo reportedly danced till 6 am in the middle of the physical recovery work he is doing after undergoing surgery to his left knee almost a year ago.

Rome  - Veteran defender Christian Panucci appears set to leave Roma after a row over his refusal to sit on the bench for last weekend's game at Napoli.

The Serie A side Tuesday wrote on their web site that they feel that Panucci, 35, "has lacked respect toward his teammates, the coach, the club and more than anything the fans."

Roma went on to say that it "does not tolerate this kind of behaviour."

London - Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones extended his contract at the English Premier League club on Tuesday.

The Trinidad and Tobago forward, 24, who had been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal.

"I'm absolutely delighted that Kenwyne has committed to the club for the long term," Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia said.

"He's young with a great future ahead of him and has already proven himself to be a key player for us.
