Fun shopping gains popularity among Dutch nationals
Amsterdam - Fun shopping has gained in popularity among Dutch people, the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics announced recently.
Releasing the results of its study, the CBS said 16.4 million Dutch nationals went fun shopping 134 million times in 2007 compared with 113 million times for all Dutch nationals combined in 2002.
Fun shopping comprises 20 per cent of all day outings undertaken by women and implies shopping for anything but groceries or running errands. Some 10 per cent of day outings made by men are for fun shopping purposes.
Fun shopping is popular in the autumn and winter when a third of the outings are on Saturdays. (dpa)
