Fujitsu to run India sales from Germany
Hanover, Germany - Computer manufacturer Fujitsu is to direct its future sales in India from its Munich, Germany offices, the company said Monday on the eve of the CeBIT trade fair.
The shakeup follows the Japanese company's purchase from Siemens of Germany last November of the remaining 50 per cent of the Germany-based company Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
It paid 450 million euros (570 million dollars).
From next month, the "Siemens" part of the name will be dropped and the company will function as the European arm of Fujitsu.
That will include taking responsibility for all Fujitsu operations in India which had previously been run by a unit reporting back to Japan. Fujitsu is a major manufacturer of personal computers.
The plans were disclosed in Hanover, Germany, one day before CeBIT, a major computer-industry trade fair, opens to buyers.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California, are scheduled to open the CeBIT fair. (dpa)
