Four Indian troopers injured in firing across border

BSF- Bangladesh Rifles DG-level talks in Dhaka from Aug. 20New Delhi  - Four troopers in India's Border Security Force (BSF) were injured Tuesday by gunfire that Indian officials said came from Pakistani forces across the two country's de-facto border in Jammu and Kashmir state, news reports said.

"Four BSF jawans were injured in firing by Pakistan forces along the LoC in the Sabzian area of Poonch district, where their post came under fire from across the border this morning," a senior BSF official was quoted as saying by the PTI news agency.

The LoC, or line of control, is the de-facto border that divides the disputed Kashmir region into two parts, one administered by India and the other by Pakistan.

The injured men were hospitalized and their condition was stable, the official said, adding that BSF troops did not return fire.

The Indian government has accused Pakistani troops of violating a 5-year-old ceasefire 31 times since January.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars over Kashmir. The two countries are currently engaged in dialogue to resolve their differences, including those on Kashmir. (dpa)
