Medical services provider Fortis Healthcare notified on Tuesday that one of its main promoters Fortis Healthcare Holdings has pledged 20.75 per cent stake of the company for an undisclosed amount.

The health chain said, that its promoter (Fortis Healthcare Holdings) has pledged 4.70 crore shares representing 20.75 per cent stake in the company.

The disclosure by Fortis Healthcare of pledged shares comes after market regulator SEBI's recent move. As per SEBI's new guidelines, all companies will have to reveal information about shares pledged by promoters within a period of 7 days after the promoters give the companies an intimation.

The SEBI's proclamation comes in the wake of the fraud-hit Satyam Computer, wherein promoter Ramalinga Raju had pledged nearly all his shares. He had inflated share prices by manipulating profits.

Recently, Malvinder and Shivinder Singh-promoted Fortis Healthcare have reported a net loss of Rs 1.63 crore for the third quarter ended December 31.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1.61 crore in the December quarter of the previous financial year

At 3 pm, the shares of Fortis Healthcare were trading at Rs 67 on BSE, up half per cent, compared to previous close of Rs 66.75.
