Ford sells more cars in H1 of 2010 than 2009

Ford-MotorFord Motor Co said that it has managed to sell more cars in the first six months of 2009 than it did during whole 2009. This was said by a top executive of the company.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford's group vice president for Asia Pacific and Africa operations said while talking to media that the sales of the company has gone up majorly in Asia because of strong demand in this region that has gone up majorly in India.

He revealed that within 100 days 25,000 bookings were done and there is more demand for its cars than it can meet.

Most of demand is for Fio which came to India in March. He added that the buzz created by it can be understood from the fact that as soon it touched the market other cars started comparing themselves with it.

India is a market with market of 3 million light vehicles and despite price increase there seems to be no fall.

In 2008, Ford managed to sell 28,563 cars and SUVs, during 2009 this number touched 29,499 vehicles. During first six months it sold 32,755, more than double the 13,897 the company sold in the first half of 2009.
