Five-year-old falls into borewell near Jaipur, rescue work on
Jaipur, Nov 9 : A five-year-old boy fell into a 250-300 ft deep borewell on Monday while playing in Jagatpura village which is nearly 40 kms from Jaipur.
According to sources, the borewell, which belongs to the boy''s family, was closed earlier. But yesterday his father and grandfather got 13 pipes of 20 feet each out from the borewell.
"After completing the task last night they left it open and were to fill it with debris and soil. But before that, the boy fell into it," sources added.
The administration has called in rescue workers to take the child out.
A team of doctors has ensured oxygen supply the borewell to facilitate the child''s breathing. The rescue work is still on.
This is not the first case of a child falling into an uncovered manhole in the country. Earlier, authorities had rescued a two-year-old girl Vandana in Agra when she accidentally fell into a 45-feet borewell in Tehra village.
In a similar incident, a five-year-old boy, Prince, fell into a 53 feet and 1.5 wide shaft in Shahbad, Haryana in July 2006. The army rescued him from the pit after two days of rescue operations. (ANI)
