The new FIFA 12 football game title has started the week at the top position in the UK game charts and become the third biggest launch ever in the UK multiformat chart behind Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops.

The sales for the game rose 18 per cent in terms of copies sold and 34 per cent in terms of revenues generated mainly because of special editions this year. The Xbox 360 version of the game sold most copies accounting for 54 per cent of overall sales, compared to 44 per cent on the PlayStation 3 and remaining two percent for other formats. Interestingly, the Wii version entered the individual format chart at number nine.

Activision's X-Men: Destiny did not manage to crack into the top ten and was placed on number 18 in the multiformat chart while its Xbox 360 version was at 37 in the individual format chart.

Rage and Dark Souls are the two big games set to release next week.
