Fiat’s New Car To Hit Indian Roads On June 17
Fiat India Automobiles Ltd (FIAL), one of country's leading car makers, is all set to enter a new chapter in India, with the launch of both the petrol and diesel versions of the Grande Punto on June 17, 2009.
The much-awaited car from the FIAL will be produced at the company's manufacturing plant in Rajangaon, near Pune in Maharashtra.
At present, the plant at Rajangaon is also manufacturing company's Linea and Palio. The plant is capable of producing 2 lakh cars and 3 lakh engines, besides 3 lakh parts & accessories.
It is learnt that by the end of 2009, FIAL will boost the component localization content to 85 per cent. Apart from this, the Italian car maker company is also working to make sure that the car is supported through a robust Tata-Fiat dealer network comprising of 100 sales and service outlets by time of launch.
Experts do believe that the most likely competitors for the upcoming car would be Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia and the to-be-launched Honda Jazz.
It should be noted that the Fiat India Automobiles Limited (FIAL) is a 50-50 Industrial Joint Venture between Fiat Group Automobiles S. p. A., (Fiat) and Tata Motors Limited
(Tata).
By the end of this month, the country would eyewitness nearly seven new car launches and equal number of revamped model of existing ones.
