Fiat 500 – up for round II

Fiat 500 – up for round IIWhile the Italian auto major bought its 500 to the Indian market much before Volkswagen launched its iconic model, Beetle but the recently released sales figures show the trend that the consumer are attracted more towards the Beetle.

However, Fiat is still buoyant about the success of the model and is thinking about re-launching its flagship compact marquee Cinquecento, popularly known as Fiat 500, in the next few months.

It is to be mentioned here that while the 500 has sold a meager 62 units, the unit sales of Beetle has crossed the figure of 300 and has surpassed the original sales targets of the company creating a flutter in the luxury small car space.

Fiat Auto India CEO Rajeev Kapoor recently said that cars with Retro looks are very much popular with the Indian consumer and the company will be launching a new campaign to boost the sales of the model.

Moreover, Kapoor also pointed out the fact that the 500 is almost a quarter lower in price as compared to the Beetle and it may act as a advantage for the company once the awareness and the acceptability level among the Indian consumer goes up.
