Fetal Tissue Is Donated For Research, Says Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood is now hitting back on claims that clinics might be illegally selling fetal tissue. Recently an undercover video showed a Planned Parenthood official discussing how they collect fetal body parts.

So far, the group hasn't even addressed a separate question that whether their doctors actually change the timing and method of abortions to get that tissue, which is said to be illegal under the federal law.

The sting video was secretly shot by the pro-life group Center for Medical Progress (CMP) last year and released this week to the media.

The video showed that Planned Parenthood medical director Deborah Nucatola who went for a lunch with two people she believed were representatives of a biotech firm, but who were really from CMP.

Nucatola said, "We've been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I'm not gonna crush that part, I'm gonna basically crush below, I'm gonna crush above, and I'm gonna see if I can get it all intact".

Furthermore she said that some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it's not vertex. So if you do it starting from the breech presentation, there's dilation that happens as the case goes on, and often, the last step, you can evacuate an intact calvarium at the end.

She also seems to suggest that doctors are aware of what researchers want and use ultrasound to anticipate the best way of getting it.

According to the federal law abortion providers must guarantee no alteration of the timing, method or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy was made solely for the purposes of obtaining the tissue.
