Ferguson keeping eye on “Manchester United great” Beckham

David BeckhamLondon, Feb 7: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly keeping an eye on AC Milan’s David Beckham after the star midfielder hinted at his desire of returning to Old Trafford.

Ferguson had seen Beckham in the recent Milan derby against Inter, and now will fly to Italy on Friday night for a Champions League spying mission – labeling him “a Manchester United great.”

The pair will be reunited this month when the Red Devils take on AC Milan in the Champions League.

“I am certain when David comes to Old Trafford for the second leg he will get a great reception. He deserves that,” The Mirror quoted Ferguson, as saying.

“All our great players who have served us well are always given a good reception by the fans. David was a great player at Manchester United. He was terrific and played a major part in our success,” he added.

He also believes that Beckham, who left United for Real Madrid in 2003, is a certainty to be part of Fabio Capello’s England squad for the World Cup.

“I think as far as England is concerned David Beckham is important and he will be there at the World Cup. I can’t see him not being taken by Fabio because of his experience,” Ferguson said. (ANI)
